In the late 90s, Marc Benioff needed a break from a hectic work schedule. He took some time out in Hawaii, where he learnt about Hawaiian culture, including the concept of ‘Ohana’.
Ohana is the idea that families — blood-related, adopted, or intentional — are bound together, and that family members are responsible for one another. When he created Salesforce in 1999, he made sure that the spirit of “Ohana” ran through everything the company did. Now employing 25,000 people, Salesforce is thriving and Ohana is lived every day.
