Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, doesn’t sound much like the chief of a B2B technology company. He’s more an evangelist than a product guy; more a community builder than a salesman.
Here he is, talking to employees and customers alike:
“Calling All Trailblazers. Pioneer. Change maker. Lifelong learner. Yes, we’re talking about you. If you’re reading this, that makes you a Trailblazer. A leader who creates a path for others to follow. A friend who lifts up those who stand beside you. A family member who helps us build a better world. All of that is in you, and in all of us. Our Ohana (family) is blazing trails across the globe, transforming the ways we work and live. And just imagine, if we all join together, the incredible impact we can make.”
Benioff talks about Salesforce’s mission being to empower people to blaze their own trails. Borrowing language from the US National Parks System, Salesforce’s free-to-use online learning hub is called Trailhead – ‘the fun way to learn Salesforce’. Trailblazers are ‘people just like you who use their passion for learning to elevate their careers and build a better world for others’. There is a team of Trailhead cartoon characters to help you explore the different Salesforce tools and ways of working, and you can earn ‘Superbadges’ as you go.
For many similar companies, this would be ‘CRM training’. For Salesforce, it’s empowerment to learn, grow and join a community of changemakers.
