Founded in 1938, REI (Recreational Equipment, Inc) is am American consumers’ co-operative that sells sporting goods, camping gear, travel equipment, and clothing. It has over 150 retail stores and 6 million members. REI staff ‘work to inspire, educate and outfit for a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship.’ It makes for a strong partnership between employees and customers – based on a shared love of the outdoors – brought to life in strong campaigns such as #OptOutside.
