Employee recognition comes fast and frequently at Chobani

We all know that positive feedback works best when it’s frequent: once-per-year reviews and award ceremonies are so… well, yesterday.

Chobani, listed as a Great Place to Work in 2017, has an acronym for great feedback: RISE.  RISE stands for Regular, Immediate, Specific and Encouraging. Positive feedback is powered by the Bonusly app, which gives staff members the opportunity to recognise and shine a spotlight on a colleague’s great work ‘in the moment’. Each staff member gets 4 “cups” to give per month, at a value of $5 each. Awards can be “cashed in” for gift cards or Chobani gear, or donated to a charitable cause.

Then there’s the once-per-year stuff too. Chobani hosts a Spring Celebration in March and a Family Day in August. The Family Day celebrations ‘are held outdoors and are open to all employees and their entire families, featuring games, food, prizes and an ideal opportunity for family interaction.’

Easy for a small business, you might say… but bear in mind Chobani is now the #1 yoghurt brand in the US and has more than 2,000 employees. Can’t all big businesses get better at employee recognition?
