Chobani Founder & CEO Hamid Ulukaya grew up in eastern Turkey, where his family raised sheep and goats and made Tulum cheese. Chobani means ‘shepherd’ in Turkish. ‘I’m a shepherd and a warrior’, he tells Fast Company.
Both sides of Hamid’s personality – the competitor and the humanitarian – are reflected in the yoghurt company’s simple Mission: to bring better food to more people. When Hamid talks ‘better’, he refers to ‘taking on the big guys’ of the industry with food that’s delicious, nutritious and natural.
The Values of the Chobani organisation – captured in this video, explained by members of staff – are Craftsmanship; Integrity; Leadership; Innovation; Giving back; and People.
